Bulgaria’s Minister of Economy Temenuzka Petkova met in Sofia with Macedonia’s Premier Zoran Zaev. Minister Petkova came up with the proposal that Bulgaria and Macedonia should establish a joint working group to study the possibilities for construction of gas interconnection between the two countries. Premier Zaev confirmed that the development of the power engineering field is among the priorities of the Macedonian cabinet and that Macedonia has already found EUR 2 billion to build the necessary gas infrastructure. Zaev also pointed out that when there is a shortage of electricity in Macedonia that country usually relies on electricity imports from Bulgaria. Minister Petkova and Premier Zaev agreed that Bulgaria and Macedonia must enhance cooperation in the power generation field.
