In 2016 nearly 23% of the Bulgarians were under poverty line

In 2016 the poverty line in Bulgaria was at EUR 157 per month per each household member, or 5.4% lower as compared to the previous year, data of the National Statistical Institute shows. Meanwhile, 1.638.700 Bulgarians lived under the poverty line (22.9% of the country’s population). 22% of the Bulgarian population was under the poverty line in 2015, NSI further informs.
