Sofia airport is now functioning normally, the airport authorities told the BNR.

Sofia airport was closed for around one hour after a bomb threat was called in at the 112 emergency number at around midnight and was temporarily evacuated. Flight schedules were not disrupted.

Passengers were confined to airplanes on the runways and airport lounges until the incident was over. Transport to and from the airport was suspended. Specialized Interior Ministry units searched the airport but found no explosive device.
