"The biggest capital I have is my connection with people. Together we have put through a great many initiatives. What we need is dialogue and unity," said Bulgaria’s European commissioner for digital economy and society Mariya Gabriel for Bulgarian National TV.

"People must be at the centre of the transformation of digital technologies. We must not forget peripheral regions," she said. "Bulgaria was given one of the most important portfolios for the future of Europe and it is important what we shall be able to accomplish over the two years of this term of office, there is so much work to be done. We are looking at major challenges connected with copyright and geo-blocking. There shouldn’t be any discrimination based on where someone is living. Bulgaria has a substantial potential in digital technologies. We shall lay an emphasis on our weaknesses."

According to Mariya Gabriel news inciting violence and terrorism will be taken down instantly. 90 percent of news of this kind is now taken down within one hour. "We cannot force anyone to react to a given piece of information in any given way but we can offer a mechanism for coping with fake news," said Mariya Gabriel, European commissioner for digital economy and society.
