Defence Minister Krasimir Karakachanov has announced that he discussed, with the management of the Russian MiG corporation, different options for its experts to make an estimate of the cost of possible repairs to the 15 MiG-29 fighters owned by the Bulgarian air force.

The defence ministry is also looking into options for “refurbishing” 14 Su-25 bombers. Minister Karakachanov believes that Bulgaria could give its support to the idea of forming a “military Schengen” but to this end, negotiations must be conducted with the NATO partners.
