According to an analysis of Eurostat about the implementation of the migration legislation in the EU countries, 14,120 foreign nationals from non-EU countries left Bulgaria in 2016. Meanwhile, a total of 2,170 foreign nationals were banned from entering that country. Data of the Bulgarian State Agency for Refugees shows that in the first six months of 2017 a total of 2,084 non-EU citizens sought asylum in Bulgaria.
