After a two-week pause, citizens of Bulgaria's Asenovgrad have renewed protests against violence and the Roma who are illegally living in the city.

Protests started about a month ago when children and their coaches from the local kayaking team were attacked and beaten by Roma. It is expected that today's protest will be joined by citizens from other Bulgarian towns and cities.

The citizens' initiative committee has expressed dissatisfaction with measures taken by the municipality against illegal construction in the Roma neighbourhood of Loznitsa.
