60%-70% of all items sold at Bulgaria’s retail chains are of Bulgarian origin: Institute for Market Economics

60%-70% of the items sold at the retail chains, owned mainly by foreign companies, are of Bulgarian origin, a research of the Institute for Market Economics shows, The large retail chains make serious investments in Bulgaria-at the end of 2015 the foreign direct investments in retail trade exceeded EUR 1.3 billion, or 5.8% of the total volume of the FDIs at that moment, the survey further reads. According to the survey, the existence of large retail chains in Bulgaria has not resulted in job losses and large-scale bankruptcies of small shops.
