“As cabinet minister I am a lobbyist for Bulgarian taxpayers; for spending their money on something worthy”, Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Krasimir Karakachanov told bTV channel today. He pointed out that the Air Force needs reliable equipment.
Karakachanov explained he meant the purchase of a new military aircraft with an emphasis on value for money. "This does not mean we should abandon what we already have in the Air Force. There are 19 MiG-29 aircraft and 15 of them can be repaired and continue to operate. But aviation is not only about fighters; it is also about bombers. There are 14 Su-25 Frogfoot that are excellent and inexpensive for maintenance, but only 4 of them fly”, the defense minister said.
Krasimir Karakachanov said he had no problems with President Rumen Radev, although the head of state had been singled out by a political party outside the government coalition. He advocated the involvement of army units in the search of a suspected murderer saying the suspect had been a guard and was dangerous."The army should contribute to protecting public order. There is nothing illegal in its involvement in this search”, the defense minister explained.
