Poland’s Prime Minister Beata Szydlo stated, after talks with her Bulgarian counterpart Boyko Borissov, that Bulgaria was coping very well with its commitment of defending the external European orders and that it should join the Schengen area.

Szydlo stated that Poland was pinning hopes on the forthcoming Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU connected with expanding cooperation within the EU and of an open European policy with regard to the Western Balkans. On his part, PM Borissov added that during his talks with his Polish counterpart they had come to an agreement that the two countries must make efforts to avoid a two-speed Europe.

“Together with our colleagues from the Visegrad group we shall make efforts to make the Balkans a place where we all feel equal members of the EU,” Boyko Borissov said.

On the sidelines of the visit a bilateral business forum was held. At its opening Prime Minister Beata Szydlo pointed out that at the cost of a lot of efforts Bulgaria and Poland had achieved results thanks to which they could today serve as an example to countries with very good economic indices.
