Within the frameworks of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly, President Rumen Radev met with Miroslav Lajčák, President of the 72nd session of the General Assembly. The two reached close positions on the question of migrants coming from conflict areas.

The Bulgarian president took a stand against conveying an open-border message, stating that that the message conveyed should not be that if they cross the Mediterranean somehow or the Turkish-Bulgarian border, from then on life would be wonderful.

President Radev pointed out that this would not solve the problem. In his words it would be a good idea to channel money to the countries of conflict rather than spend it on social welfare inside Europe.
