President Rumen Radev stated that the presidential institution had the ambition to create a register of Bulgarians and Bulgarian communities abroad. The Bulgarian head of state met with members of the Bulgarian community in New York, the press centre of the presidential institution has announced. This register will facilitate communication with our compatriots abroad so their professional expertise and experience may be made use of, President Radev said.

"In this global world no country can exist alone - finance, investments, technologies, scientific and cultural exchange, everything is connected. And when we are successful, it is a success for Bulgaria as well," the president said and expressed his gratitude to the Bulgarians who promote their country at the international institutions and companies they work for.

"To my mind Bulgaria will have succeeded when you tell your children top come back, to study and work in their country," Rumen Radev said and added that more needs to be done to foster trust in Bulgarian institutions, a sense of justice and a sense that society is rid of corruption schemes in the awarding of public contracts.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva also took part in the meeting with members of the Bulgarian community in New York. The task the Bulgarian president has assigned her is to work towards opening a Bulgarian consular office in New York.
