Salaries in different European countries need to be equalized faster, General Secretary of the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC), Luca Visentini said in Sofia where he met with representatives of the trade unions and the government.

They discussed addressing social issues during the Bulgarian presidency of the Council of the EU. According to him, efforts must be made by Western and Eastern European governments, social partners and multinational companies investing in Eastern Europe.

An agreement on the payment of workers in Europe could be reached by the end of the year, Viesentini added.
