Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office refused to initiate pre-trial proceedings against MP from BSP for Bulgaria Elena Yoncheva for allegedly disclosing state secrets. The signal to the prosecution was filed by Bulgaria’s Deputy Premier Valeri Simeonov and was based on TV appearances of Elena Yoncheva where she spoke of problem areas along the Bulgaria-Turkey border fence and showed photos of the state border. Thus, according to Valeri Simeonov, Yoncheva posed risk on the national security and gave clues to illegal migrants how to cross the border. However, the inspection of the prosecutor’s office shows that Elena Yoncheva used public information.
