Turkish side apologizes for assault on Bulgarian national by Turkish border guards at Lesovo border checkpoint

Commenting on the assault on a Bulgarian national by Turkish border guards at Lesovo border checkpoint, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva said for bTV that the border police and the head of the customs office had received an apology.

She expressed the hope that steps have been taken for holding the official responsible to account. Minister Zaharieva added that the prosecutor’s office is conducting an investigation. The border police have received assurances that the Turkish side will also launch an investigation.
