At this time there is no information of any Bulgarian citizens killed or injured in last night’s earthquake, the Bulgarian diplomatic missions in Tehran and in Baghdad say.

According to the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre the earthquake registered at 9.18 hours local time measured 7.6 on the Richter scale. The epicenter was 204 kilometres northeast of the capital of Iraq Baghdad and 108 west of Kermanshah, Iran at a depth of 10 kilometres. The authorities in Iran have reported that no less than 350 have been killed and over 3,000 injured. The aftershocks continue and this is the reason why the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry is recommending that Bulgarian nationals refrain from travelling to the area.

The Bulgarian embassies in Tehran and in Baghdad have opened hotlines for receiving or providing information connected with the earthquake: +98 930 568 34 09 (Tehran) and +964 7809237587 (Baghdad).
