Thousands bid farewell to weightlifting champion Naim Suleymanoglu

Thousands came to bid farewell to weightlifting champion Naim Suleymanoglu. The funeral ceremony took place at the Fatih mosque in Istanbul. The casket with the body of the legendary athlete was covered with the Turkish flag and accompanied by a special military guard of honour.
Thousands came to bid farewell to Naim Suleymanoglu, among them PM Binali Yildirim, former PM Ahmed Davutoglu, the regional governor of Istanbul Vasip Sahin, MPs from different political parties, representatives of emigrant organizations from Bulgaria, the legend of Greek weightlifting and Suleymanoglu's friend Leronidis.
The event was covered by numerous Turkish media. The body of the world and Olympic champion was laid down to rest at the Edirnekapi cemetery in Istanbul.
