Bulgarian Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva told the Bulgarian National Television that good relations with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan are important for the sake of Bulgaria’s national interest. She went on to say that Turkey is an important trade partner of Bulgaria that has an impact on this country’s economy.

Zaharieva pointed out that following the deal on refugees between the European Union and Turkey migration pressure on the Bulgarian border dropped by 89 percent. In this she sees a strong argument to keep relations as they are.
