Bulgarian National Assembly should take decision related to possible construction of Belene NPP: Minister Petkova

The Bulgarian National Assembly will make the final decision whether this country should build a nuclear power plant in Belene or not, Bulgaria’s Minister of Energy Temenuzhka Petkova told the Bulgarian National Radio on Sunday. We wanted to find out whether Bulgaria and the region will need new nuclear facilities. The analysis of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences categorically shows that there will be a deficit of nuclear facilities in Bulgaria and the region after 2030. Now we have to find out whether it is appropriate to fulfill this project. The Bulgarian government is ready to discuss this topic in short terms, Minister Petkova also said.
