Estimated 14,000 cut off from electricity as result of stormy wind close to Bulgarian border with Greece

Stormy winds speeding at 80 km / h have left more than 14,000 without electricity in the municipality of Kirkovo close to the Bulgarian border with Greece.

There is heavy rain in the area, with 70 liters per square meter measured in the afternoon.

The level of rivers has risen. So far, there are no reports of either floods or infrastructure damage.

By the end of the day, considerable rainfall is expected in Western Bulgaria and the Rhodope Mountains, and tomorrow in the southwestern and central parts of the country. Due to expected heavy rainfalls, the police and the fire service have been monitoring the levels of the largest dams.
