The murder attempt against the Bulgarian tax officer Ivo Stamenov is not linked with his personal life. It was linked with his duties at work which were fulfilled conscientiously, Bulgaria’s Chief Prosecutor Sotir Tsatsarov told journalists after the meeting with Premier Boyko Borissov. Bulgaria’s Minister of Interior Valentin Radev and the chairmen of the National Revenue Agency and the National Customs Agency also attended the meeting. Sotir Tsatsarov categorically said that “the state will respond very strongly to this impudent and ostentatious assault”. The state will have to show that it is able to protect the people who work for it, Bulgaria’s Chief prosecutor Tsatsarov pointed out. The shooting against the tax officer was not merely a shooting against a senior state official, but a shooting against the state and the statehood, Bulgaria’s Minister of Finance Vladislav Goranov said in return. Bulgaria’s Minister of Interior Valentin Radev voiced determination that the authorities would reveal both the perpetrator of the crime and the one who stands behind it. The murder attempt against forty three-year-old Ivo Stamenov took place on December 18 downtown Sofia.
