The fully renovated Bulgarian church St Stephen in Istanbul will be officially unveiled and sanctified at the end of this week at the big Christian feast Ivanovden (the Day of Saint John The Baptist). In 2018 the Bulgarian Iron Church marks its 120th anniversary. It was built thanks to the efforts of the Bulgarian community in Istanbul (Tsarigrad). On Sunday his Holiness Bulgarian Patriarch Neophyte and the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew will sanctify the renovated church together. Bulgaria’s Premier Boyko Borissov and Turkey’s President Recep Erdogan will attend the event. Regular church services will be held in St Stephen church after its sanctification on Sunday.
