Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov has congratulated Macedonian Prime Minister Zoran Zaev for the strong will for his country’s Euro-Atlantic integration and encouraged him to continue negotiations with Greece to finally resolve the current name dispute.
During the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, PM Borissov spoke in an informal setting with Prime Minister of Estonia Jüri Ratas, as well as President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė and Kosovo President Hashim Thaci. At a meeting with former US Secretary of State John Kerry, PM Borissov discussed the situation in the Balkans and the will of Bulgaria during its Presidency of the EU Council to focus the international community's attention on the Euro-Atlantic integration of the Western Balkan countries.
Speaking to journalists at the forum, Borissov pointed out that the interest in the Western Balkans is already very high and that the region has a rare chance to form a model from which other countries can learn. In relation to the meeting, which Bulgaria has been preparing jointly with the heads of the EU and Turkey, he pointed out that its aim was to mark the achievements of the migration agreement so far and to prepare the negotiations for the new agreement and its financing.
