Experts discuss General Data Protection Regulation in Sofia

A conference is taking place in Sofia focusing on the enforcement of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

In a video address to the participants, Mariya Ivanova Gabriel, European Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society commented that the regulation alters the EU’s data protection rules, bringing them up to date, thus preparing Europe for the digital age. Lilyana Pavlova, Minister for the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU noted that at this time, 80 percent of European users are not sure their data is protected and that steps must be taken to reassure them.
