Executive Director of AES, one of the US-owned power plants in Bulgaria’s Maritza East complex, Ivan Tsankov, has told the Bulgarian National Radio that any change in the long-term contracts for buying produced energy should be approved by creditor banks.

This, according to Tsankov, would take a long time. The company has made planned investments, but debts towards have not been paid yet.

Last week it became clear that the government was willing to comply with the call of employers' organizations, who want contracts with the two US-owned plants terminated. According to employers this could happen within a few weeks.
