Voice Like Thracian Gold, Songs Like Old Wine – this is the title of the new double album, released by beloved singer Danislav Kehayov. The CD has not only recordings from the singer’s Thracian region repertoire, but also renditions of popular samples from different folklore areas, as well as a DVD.

Fate has gifted Danislav Kehayov with this beautiful tenor voice. The magnetism of his delicate singing overwhelms the listener. The man has devoted his talent not only to his solo career as a singer of Thracian region songs. He works in a diverse manner in the sphere of Bulgarian folklore, being also an art manager of Bulgarian and international organizations. Danislav is a chair of the Municipal Art School and the Sunny Beach Ensemble in his birthplace - Nessebar. He has initiated interesting festivals of the ethnicities there and as of nearly four years he has been the head and artistic director of the Pirin Ensemble – Blagoevgrad. The singer is well known for his constant striving to expand his knowledge in the endless world of folklore.

Danislav Kehayov dedicates and offers his double album to trusted fans and friends only. Here is more from him on the matter:

“I just want to say that you /Ilka Dimitrova/ were the one that came up with that title - Voice Like Thracian Gold, Songs Like Old Wine. You had presented me in one of your shows using those words and I decided to opt for those as a title of the album. I have included beloved folklore songs from Southwest Bulgaria, the Strandja Mountain, Dobrudja, Thrace, the Rhodope Mountain, songs that can be sung at any time. I hope that the listeners will join me in the rendition.”

There is this curious and nice sentence on the cover of the album, which reads: “Banned for people with false feelings!”

“It is a usual phenomenon for our circles for colleagues to play ‘big’ professionals, asking why I have selected certain melodies or such an orchestra, then why a Thracian singer would sing Macedonian tunes etc. That was the reason for this message on the cover. I invited my friends to accompany the audio version – Temelko Ivanov – shepherd’s flute, Nedko Bogdanov – accordion, Petar Voinikov and Bozhidar Strehin – clarinet, Atanas Slavov – violin. I trusted the arrangements to Viktor Yordanov, Mitko Hristov and Nikola Vaklinov. The video version is with my songs, accompanied by the Sakar Orchestra.”

Danislav Kehayov shared some news for the Pirin Ensemble’s concert activity for his fans and also talked about his solo performances:

“We returned from Tunisia a few days ago. We are about to travel with the ensemble to Skopje. I invite our Sofia fans to the 4th edition of the Nights of Ensembles concert on May 2nd at the National Palace of Culture, Hall No.1. We will make the show together with the Filip Kutev National Folklore Ensemble and the Thrace Ensemble. On May 5th we will be in Pomorie, on May 9th – in Pazardjik, on May 10 – 12th – in Zagreb, Croatia. On May 22nd in Blagoevgrad we will celebrate the 85th anniversary of Prof. Kiril Stefanov /1933 – 2005/ - the long-year artistic director of Pirin Ensemble. The man has made huge contribution for the glory of the ensemble. The Thracian Unions in Bulgaria will gather in Nessebar on April 28th and I will sing there a bit as well.”
