The National Electrical Company (NEK) has initiated a procedure for the selection of a consultant for the asset valuation of the Belene Nuclear Power Plant project.

These assets will go into a new company, said Petyo Ivanov, CEO of the Bulgarian Energy Holding. One of the ways to separate the assets is by contribution of assets, and the other – by dividing the company itself. For the time being, the plan is to keep NEK as 100 percent owner until the emergence of another potential investor. It is the position of the Bulgarian government that the Belene NPP should be implemented on market principles without state guarantees.
