The Bulgarian Foreign Ministry has issued a statement regarding the summit in Singapore between US President Donald Trump and the leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea Kim Jong-un.
Welcoming the agreements reached, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry notes that the meeting marks a new stage in the relations between the two countries, and, alongside the summit meeting between the Republic of Korea and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in April this year, constitutes an important step towards attaining lasting peace and stability on the Korean peninsula and in the region. Bulgaria, including in its capacity of local EU representation in Pyongyang, will continue to support the diplomatic efforts of the EU and to contribute to the process of dialogue and confidence building. We expect concrete measures in implementation of the Singapore agreement for attaining the ultimate objective for a complete, verifiable, and irreversible dismantlement of the nuclear missile capabilities of the DPRK, the statement reads.
