The revenues from international tourism amount to EUR 3.45 billion, Bulgaria’s Minister of Tourism Nikolina Angelkova announced. 69% of all foreign tourists visiting Bulgaria are citizens of EU member states. The number of Ukrainian, Moldovan and Israeli tourists is also significant. Bulgaria has the ambition to penetrate more distant tourist markets such as India and Japan. Currently, 70% of all tourism services are due to the summer tourism and the efforts of the Bulgarian Ministry of Tourism are directed towards the development of the spa and winter tourism as well. Last year the tourism sector grew with 8% year on year. We are expecting that in 2018 the growth of the tourism sector will be similar to last year’s one, Minister Angelkova went on to say.
