Bulgarian Orthodox Church honors holy apostles Peter and Paul

On June 29 the Bulgarian Orthodox Church honors the memory of the holy apostles Peter and Paul, disciples of Jesus Christ. The feast is known in Bulgaria as Petrovden. Saint Apostles Peter and Paul are named Preeminent, because they have labored the most in setting the basis for the Holy Christ Church. People with the names Peter, Petrana, Petya, Pavel, Pavlin, Pavlina, Polina, Penka, Pencho and Kamen celebrate their name day on June 29.
