The European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety Vytenis Andriukaitis expressed his support towards the actions of the Bulgarian authorities in their fight against goat and sheep plague. The coordination between the Bulgarian and the Turkish veterinary offices is good, Commissioner Andriukaitis pointed out. Vytenis Andriukaitis gave a special briefing to Bulgarian journalists over the outbreaks of ovine rinderpest in this country. Commissioner Andriukaitis denied the rumors that the outbreak of goat and sheep plague was a result of bioterrorism. The people must realize that many illnesses are linked with the climate changes, Commissioner Vytenis Andriukaitis said. We must deal with the climate changes first in order to prevent such infections in the future, Vytenis Andriukaitis added.
