State Agency for National Security checks media over spreading fake news

State Agency for National Security checks which media have spread the fake news that euthanasia of animals in Strandzha Mountain because of established animal plague was servicing the purpose of depopulating the area in order for migrants to settle there.

Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister Krassimir Karakachanov confirmed that the order for investigation was a consequence of a government meeting held last Wednesday. The version that the government wanted to provide a place to accommodate migrants had been circulated by a number of sites known for their anti-European focus.

Another widespread piece of fake news on the subject claimed that euthanasia of animals would help Turkey to "bite a piece off” Bulgaria.
