The government will allocate additional 750,000 euros by the end of the year to increase PhD scholarships. The aim is to keep young scientists in this country, Minister of Education and Science Krasimir Valchev said.

According to the approved new program for young scientists, they will receive between 100 and 250 euros in addition to their salaries, while PhD graduates will receive salaries between 750 and 1500 euros. The total number of approved new national scientific programs is 11. They will be financed with more than 30 million euros over the next 4 years.

For the first time in 30 years, Bulgaria has a policy aimed at stopping brain drain from the country, chairman of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Julian Revalski, commented on the decisions of the cabinet.
