The Managеment Board of the Bulgarian National Television (BNT) has decided that the public service broadcaster shall not take part in this year's international Eurovision Song Contest, to take place in Tel Aviv in mid-May 2019.
The decision is part of the package of measures undertaken by the management to optimize public spending. Over the past two years the Bulgarian National TV has organized the Bulgarian participation in the international song contest, but now its management has estimated that BNT can no longer afford to create and produce a song, or cover the cost of the competition itself which is shared by the participating countries.
