Bulgaria’s capital Sofia is hosting the 7th annual forum of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region. The main focus of the forum is on tourism development as precondition to economic growth and territorial cohesion. Our purpose is to connect people, facilitate the business and make the region more discernible, Bulgaria’s Deputy Premier and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva pointed out. According to European Commissioner for Regional Policy Corina Crețu, the Danube Region has huge potential in the tourism field which can bring a lot of economic benefits. The Ministers of Tourism and Culture from the Danube Region adopted a joint declaration for tourism promotion through joint initiatives in the field of cultural and historical heritage and joint projects related to the local traditions , festivals and wine production.
