If Bulgaria’s economy continues to develop with the current rates the Bulgarian business will need an extra half a million employees and experts in the next five years. The shortage of manpower in Bulgaria is due to the demographic trends, migration and the growth of the economy, the Chairman of the Bulgarian Industrial Capital Association Vasil Velev told the Bulgarian National Radio. Bulgaria faces a serious shortage of engineers, nurses, teachers, drivers and people employed in the tourism and agriculture fields, Vasil Velev pointed out. In his words, the Bulgarian business has already started to feel the lack of manpower which hampers the country’s economic growth. The growth of the Bulgarian economy is moderate, but this country places 12th in the EU in terms of GDP growth in the first half of 2018 and the economies of almost all countries from Central and Eastern Europe have registered higher growth than Bulgaria, Vasil Velev went on to say.
