The Bulgarian government is making efforts to diversify gas supplies through the construction of gas interconnectors with neighboring countries, Bulgaria’s Minister of Energy Temenuzhka Petkova said at the fifth meeting of Bulgaria-Azerbaijan Intergovernmental Committee on Economic Cooperation. The gas interconnector between Bulgaria and Greece is of key significance, because in 2020 the first gas supplies from Azerbaijan to Bulgaria are expected to be made via this gas interconnection. The gas supplies through the Bulgaria-Greece interconnector will satisfy 30% of the local consumption and will significantly increase the energy security of the country, Minister Petkova commented.
