The European Commission has announced it is lowering its growth forecast for the Bulgarian economy in 2018 from 3.8 to 3.5 percent because of weaker export performance, but that nonetheless, the growth rate continues considerably above the EU average of 2.1 percent.
Inflation projections for this year are raised from 2 to 2.6 percent, but are lowered for 2019 and 2020 down to 2 and 1.8 percent respectively. The GDP is expected to continue to grow steadily in 2019 and 2020, by 3.7 and 3.6 percent respectively.
