More than 70 percent of Bulgarians support the right to abortion and divorce

Bulgarian society has adopted a more liberal standard with regard to relationships within the family and with children, data from a survey conducted by Gallup International at the beginning of December indicate.

More than 70 percent of the respondents defend the right to cohabitation without marriage and children outside of marriage, and around two-thirds say they support the possibility of marriage between people of different ethnic groups and races. Seventy percent state they support the right to abortion and divorce.

Only 7 percent say it is admissible for a man to hit a woman. However, these 7 percent translate into over 300,000 people, and that means the concerns on this issue remain valid.

Seventy-five percent of Bulgarians are not against the stereotype of the man of the house being responsible for the incomes of the household, with equal numbers of men and women answering “yes”.
