The government supports the demands of Bulgarian hauliers

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and Minister of Transport Rosen Zhelyazkov discussed, in Sofia, the demands of Bulgarian hauliers for amendments to the so-called Mobility Package that is to be voted by the European Parliament’s Transport Committee this week.

The meeting made it clear that the Bulgarian government expresses solidarity with the hauliers’ line of argument that if the package is endorsed without the amendments demanded, carriers in the peripheral EU countries will be forced out of the market.

PM Borissov commented that if this were the case Bulgarian hauliers will be forced to take their businesses elsewhere, and that is unacceptable for Bulgaria. Minister Zhelyazkov declared that he would attend the protest Bulgarian hauliers are planning in the square in front of the EP building in Brussels, and later, the sitting of the EP Committee on Transport and Tourism.
