Bulgaria is largest producer of herbs in the European Union

Bulgaria is the largest producer of herbs in the European Union, data of Eurostat shows. In 2017 a total of 81,000 tons of aromatic and medicinal plants and herbs were grown in this country which was double the amount planted in the second-biggest producer of herbs Poland. Bulgaria is the second-biggest producer of sunflower seeds (2.1 million tons) after Romania and the fourth-largest producer of raspberries (48,000 tons) after Poland, Spain and Great Britain. Moreover, this country is the fifth biggest producer of tobacco in the EU (13,000 tons). Bulgaria is the 6th biggest producer of rice, watermelons, peaches, apricots and alfalfa in the European Union, Eurostat further announced.
