Minister Temenuzhka Petkova: Bulgaria is not ready to replace coal-fired power plants with other types

Bulgarian Energy Minister Temenuzhka Petkova has had talks with representatives of the International Monetary Fund, who are on their annual mission to Bulgaria. Topic of discussion was the current state of the energy sector in this country. Petkova pointed out that Bulgaria was not ready to replace the coal-fired power plants with another types of producers, highlighting the strategic importance of TPPs that provide over 40% of all electricity in the country. The progress of the Belene NPP project and the liberalization of the electricity market in Bulgaria were also in the focus of discussions with IMF experts.
