Bulgaria aims to achieve a share of 25% of energy from renewable sources in final energy consumption by 2030, this country’s Deputy Minister of Energy Zhecho Stanchev said at a forum held in Sofia. Currently, 19% of the electricity is produced from renewable sources. That is why the state authorities will make efforts to encourage the households to build small water power plants. Bulgaria wants to continue using the thermal power plants in accordance with the environmental legislation, because these energy facilities produce 40% of the electricity in this country. The nuclear units 5 and 6 at Kozloduy power plant are the second-largest producer of electricity in Bulgaria. That is why we will extend their lifespan, Deputy Minister Stankov pointed out.
