Bulgaria’s Prosecutor’s Office has blocked an attorney escrow account in a local bank on which a person with Bulgarian citizenship and citizenship of other countries received millions of Euro from Venezuela. In the recent months the money was transferred to other accounts and the reason for payment had nothing to do with the lеgal activities, it became clear at the meeting between the Ambassador of the USA to Bulgaria Eric Rubin, Bulgaria’s Premier Boyko Borissov and heads of Bulgarian special services. Ambassador Rubin assessed highly the excellent cooperation between Bulgaria and the USA on this issue. The USA sent information about bank transfers worth hundreds of millions of Euros from Venezuela’s State Oil Company to Bulgaria. Criminal proceedings for money laundering will be initiated, Bulgaria’s Prosecutor General Sotir Tsatsarov said.
