Paper ballots to be entirely replaced with machine voting after the local elections in Bulgaria this autumn, the National Assembly Committee on Legal Affairs, which has discussed at extraordinary sitting the controversial issues of the Electoral Code, has proposed. Machine voting will be held in at least 3,000 polling stations at the forthcoming elections for European Parliament in May and in at least 6,000 polling stations at the local elections. Publication of exit poll results is prohibited before the end of the voting hours. A maximum of 35 polling stations can be opened in non-EU countries.
