Bulgaria to test hydrogen energy in transport

The Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Transport will be working together on the extraction and distribution of hydrogen as an energy source.

The first hydrogen power station will start functioning in Bulgaria within two years under the Eplus national scientific programme for low carbon energy for transport and households.

The programme is part of the European strategy for the rapid development and introduction of renewable energy technologies. With the support of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and Sofia municipality, battery-type fuel cell electric vehicles will be tested as early as  this year.
