The Grand Prix Award for best film went to “Monsters (Romania) by director Marius Olteanu. The special jury award went to “The pig” (Bulgaria) by director Dragomir Sholev which started as a project of the professional platform Sofia Meetings. “Her Job” is the best Balkan film at this year’s Sofia Film Fest. The film tells the story of an illiterate 37-year old housewife who starts her first job – as a cleaner. Though she is working in a ruthless work environment, she rediscovers herself and earns respect.

“This is my first feature film,” said for Radio Bulgaria the film’s director Nikos Labôt. “I am so happy that in Sofia the audience gave me such a warm welcome. I was here two years ago, to take part in Sofia Meetings, in the hope of finding funding for My Job. I have taken part in the festival in Balchik with a short film. People in Bulgaria and in Greece have a tangible bond, cinema in Bulgaria is evolving, but here there are 2-3 films a year that are financed by the state, whereas in Greece there are 20-25. Fortunately, there are co-production opportunities – the new modes of cooperation in the sphere of European cinema.”
