China shows extraordinary interest in construction of Belene NPP

China is showing an extraordinary interest in the construction of Belene nuclear power plant, Premier Boyko Borissov said in Dubrovnik where he is participating at the 16+1 Summit, Meeting of Heads of Government of Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC) and PR China. In my view, this project is extremely lucrative for China in political and geostrategic aspect and this country has the opportunity to build nuclear power plant in the EU for the first time. This announcement would be made during a possible visit of President Xi Jinping, Premier Borissov pointed out. China’s President Xi Jinping is expected to pay a visit to Bulgaria by the end of 2019. Premier Borissov also pointed out that currently Bulgaria’s export to China amounts to nearly USD 800 million and imports from China are to the tune of USD 1.5 billion.
