In connection with the announcement that next week a Bulgarian delegation is leaving for USA to negotiate the acquisition of F-16 fighter jets, Deputy Defence Minister Atanas Zapryanov said for the Bulgarian National Radio that Bulgaria is not seeking a deal at any cost.

The mandate parliament has given to the deal is within the bounds of 771-925 million euro /1.5-1.8 billion Leva /, and even though the delegation has permission to deviate from these parameters, there are limits to this deviation. The negotiating team will seek to achieve a prudent F-16 package that will not have a negative effect on the projects for the acquisition of ships for the navy or assault vehicles for the land forces, Deputy Minister Zapryanov said.
