Leader of Bulgarian Socialist Party Kornelia Ninova resigns

The leader of the Bulgarian Socialist Party Kornelia Ninova has handed in her resignation to the National Council of BSP under the pressure of the internal opposition. Ninova said that a quick congress should be convened. The new congress has to adopt amendments to the statute of the Bulgarian Socialist Party and initiate a procedure for direct election of party leader. Undoubtedly, we need change. How we can guarantee that we will not lose the next elections the way we lost the latest elections, Anton Kutev said. After the defeat of the Bulgarian Socialist Party at the European elections Atanas Merdzhanov demanded the resignation of the whole leadership of BSP. The District Chairman of the Bulgarian Socialist Party in Plovdiv Georgi Gergov also insisted that the leadership of the party should take responsibility for the defeat.
